I have constructed antenna elements (Dipoles, Yagi-Uda) out of bare copper wire twisted in a drill chuck before (works great!) but my question is:

Could you use insulated wire twisted in the same way as long as there is an electrical connection at one end?

Thanks,

-John

John, the simple answer is yes! I have used 10 - 14 AWG THHN insulated wire for all my Hertz (Dipole) antenna from 1964 to the present day. Ensure that the end where the insulation is removed for electrical is soldered. The larger the conductor element the more current handling capability there will be.

Thanks! I suspected as much, but it's always great to hear from someone who knows for sure!
