I have been switching my tuner meter over to LEDs. Will LEDs work in an amplifier meter, (AL-572), and not cause a light show? I've seen LEDs that were off blink and come on when subjected to stray RF. But, when under power would the RF cause them to change brightness?

I assume that your Ameritron AL-572 amplifier is similiar to my Ameritron AL-811H. I changed the meter lamps in the AL-811H to 5mm 'White' LEDs, purchased from 'superbrightled.com' part number RL5-W15120 at a cost of $1.09 for a quantity of 1~9. I used a current limiting resistor between a value of 330 Ohm – 470 Ohm @ 13.8VDC on each meters LED cathode lead.

Im no expert in this field but I think it depends on how you set the system up. You can have it detect RF energy or just measure the amount of power going through the circuit. I know there's an arduino (now idea how to spell that) kit that can measure how much power is passed through the circuit.

Like I said Im no expert but just a thought.

I did exactly what Larry did with my AL80B
