Presumably this is new equipment? I'm looking forward to the answers on this one!

KC0OLQ James, when you refer to 'All Band Transceivers' in your question, I assume you are asking about new current model transceivers with Medium Frequency (MF) 160 Meters, High Frequency (HF) 80 - 10 Meters and those that might also include Very High Frequency (VHF) 6 Meters. Currently from 11 different major retail providers that I have researched and keep in a Excel spreadsheet, of the 32 models made by the 4 Japanese manufacturers and the 16 models made by the 3 American manufacturers, they have nothing for $500.00 or less. The cheapest price I found for any of the Japanese made transceivers is the Icom IC-718 100W MF/HF (160/80-10 Meter) for $569.95 from R & L Electronics (http://www.randl.com/shop/index.shtml). If you are not opposed to buying a new second hand or older model transceiver there are places like QRZ.com swapmeet or eBay, where you could research for a deal.

I don't know of any sub $500 all band transceivers in current production. Very close are the FT-817 and the IC-718, both with a street price under $600.

However, there are scads sub $500 all band transceivers on the used market. I suggest going to a hamfest :-)
