Okay, so I was talking with someone yesterday via EchoLink on my computer. Because of the small size of our local club, the best way to make contact is just getting on EchoLink and calling out to repeaters that are set up for it. The guy I was talking to said that QSL cards are not typically sent out from an EchoLink connection. What is the generally accepted QSL protocol on QSL when making a connection over EchoLink? Is it better to send out an eQSL contact via eQSL.cc or just not bother with it at all? Since I am not too familiar with this, any advice, opinions, etc. is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Stephen - KJ4RAU |

Would I send a QSL card for an EchoLink contact, no. But that doesn't mean you can't. If you wanted to send the other ham a "thank you" for a nice conversation you can send him a QSL card. If you want one back, you'd need to provide a SASE for him to return one to you. If they were a "DX" station then you could send through the bureau or direct. If you aren't part of an incoming bureau, then you wouldn't want the other op to send his reply via the bureau. Was it a US based operator or a "DX" operator outside the US? As N7YP notes, the QSL doesn't count for any awards such as WAS (Worked All States) or DXCC, but there's nothing wrong in sending a card if you want. K2DSL - David |
